Darvish means a beggar. Baha'u'llah lived in the mountains of Sulaymaniyyih as a beggar.

The begging was traditional; in fact, the word dervish (darvísh) is said to come from ‘door’ and ‘beg’. (In Arabic-speaking countries, a dervish is a faqíh, poor one.)
