So a Manifestation of God left His wife and children under the care of the Source of Perversion which intentionally, since He is supposedly omniscient, left His toddler to die and family to suffer just so He could meditate in the mountains for two years?
If you remove all of the supernatural aspects of the story, the plot seems quite simple. Baha'u'llah ran away from all of the religious turmoil that He was causing with the Bab's successor who was still widely revered and since He wasn't omniscient, He didn't realize that Asiyih was pregnant or His family would experience difficulty under the care of Mirza Yahya.
We cannot, not knowing the factors Bahá’u’lláh weighed in His own mind, judge of the wisdom of His withdrawal to Kurdistan. But, studying His life and teachings, we should see in it an act of wisdom, and not superficially measure Him by our standards.http://reference.bahai.org/en/t/se/UD/ud-533.html
So even Shoghi Effendi did not have an answer as to why Bahá'u'lláh abandoned His family to a person whom He would later call, "Source of Perversion", and cause them tremendous grief and sorrow for two years. Not to mention that His own toddler died from neglect during His absence.
Interestingly, later on, Bahá'u'lláh would command His followers to inform their spouse(s) of their expected date of return whenever they intended to travel.
It hath been decreed by God that, should any one of His servants intend to travel, he must fix for his wife a time when he shall return home. If he return by the promised time, he will have obeyed the bidding of his Lord and shall be numbered by the Pen of His behest among the righteous; otherwise, if there be good reason for delay, he must inform his wife and make the utmost endeavor to return to her.(Kitáb-i-Aqdas, k67)
So much for being an exemplar of His own teachings.
