The global spread of the Bahá'í Faith
The global spread of the Bahá'í Faith has been reflected in the increase in the number of National Spiritual Assemblies. While there were 56 National Assemblies in the world that first elected the House of Justice in 1963, 173 took part in the 2018 election. The large number of indigenous peoples who made up the membership of National Assemblies particularly on the most recent occasion-was evidence of the further penetration of the Bahá'í Faith into countless diverse societies. Between 2006 and 2020, National Assemblies were reformed in Afghanistan, Burundi, the Caroline Islands, Egypt, Liberia, and Vietnam.
